The Modern College of Design will host Commencement36, an in-person commencement ceremony, on June 6, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Dayton Masonic Center.
The Modern will also invite family, friends, alumni, and professionals to campus for Reveal36, an exhibition of the graduates’ artwork, through a series of small events, held June 3–6, 2021.
To protect the health of guests and to comply with current state mandates, The Modern will limit attendance at each event. Mask wearing and social distancing are required. The Modern will live stream the commencement ceremony on Facebook for those who are unable to attend.
Marking The Modern’s 36th graduating class, this year’s events are remarkable for several reasons. Graduates have overcome tremendous adversity throughout the pandemic, which began during the second term of their programs. They quickly adapted to new learning methods, digital technology, and communications tools and completed The Modern’s challenging Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degree Completion programs. The Modern will also award Bachelor’s Degrees to the first cohort of the Design Leadership Program.
“We look forward to celebrating the tremendous accomplishments of our 36th graduating class,” states President Jessica Barry. “This class will forever hold a special place in our hearts for their determination and success under unprecedented circumstances. “
The Modern’s administration will continue to follow state and CDC guidance and update plans if needed.
