The Modern College of Design’s 2020-2021 academic year and fall semester commenced yesterday, August 24. To reduce the number of students who are on campus at any given time, The Modern is offering hybrid courses that include a combination of in-person classes and online learning and fully-online courses. New and returning students will return to campus in phases through Thursday, August 27.

The new semester marks many firsts for The Modern.

• The Modern is offering their first asynchronous Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degree programs.
• The Modern welcomed back the first cohort of the new Design Leadership Bachelor’s Completion Program for their final year.
• The Modern introduced technological advances, including Canvas, a new learning management system.

The Modern also introduced ten new employees. Four faculty members joined The Modern, whose professional experience includes animation, graphic design, web design, user experience design, marketing, communication, business, and psychology. Six staff members joined the admissions, financial aid, marketing, career services, and student affairs departments.

Students, faculty, and staff are following The Modern Reset 2.0 plan, which focuses on conducting daily symptom assessments, reducing capacities in common spaces and classrooms, and practicing good hygiene.

“The health and wellness of our students, faculty, and staff continue to be our main priority throughout the fall semester,” shared President Jessica Barry. “I am thankful for their diligent efforts to follow our safety protocols outlined in The Modern Reset 2.0 plan.”
