Each year, The Modern College of Design offers over $1M in institutional, merit and need-based scholarships and grants to students pursuing both Associate’s and Bachelor’s Degrees. Due to the stress that the pandemic has created for recent graduates of the Associate’s Degree Program and their families, The Modern announced today that they will increase their institutional grants by over $500,000 allowing any eligible, 2020 Modern graduate to earn a grant to enroll in the Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program in Design Leadership this August.

The Modern launched this innovative program–their first Bachelor’s Degree Program–in 2019 to unlock even more opportunities for employment and career advancement and to increase students’ earning potential. In this program, students sharpen their knowledge of design, enhance their portfolios, and build a strong foundation in marketing, entrepreneurship, leadership, and strategy. The culmination of the program is a semester dedicated to a cooperative learning experience.

With 23 students in the inaugural cohort, the results have been impressive. Students have grown both personally and professionally and expanded their portfolios in graphic design, web design, UI/UX, video, and motion design. Through innovative courses such as Design Thinking, students learned to solve complex problems. Working with clients throughout the region, they developed fully-integrated marketing campaigns for organizations such as the Home Builders Association of Dayton.

“During these uncertain times, we hope that making our Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program more affordable for our recent graduates will help them continue to develop the skills that are most sought-after by employers in our region and across the globe” shared President Jessica Barry.

Other institutional scholarships and grants are available to recent graduates and other alumni and students who have completed two years of design education at another college or university.

Students may apply now at themodern.edu.
