2017 Modern alum, Molly Boatman, earned a spot in the prestigious “Poetic Visions of Mackinac Island” Art & Poetry exhibition for the second consecutive year.

Held at the esteemed Center for the Arts, nestled within the scenic Mission Point Resort on One Lakeshore Drive, the exhibition will be open to the public from June through October.

“Poetic Visions” is a captivating showcase of visual arts and poetry, warmly welcoming adult participants nationwide. Each exhibit pairs photographs of Mackinac Island with coordinated poems, creating a symphony of creativity and inspiration. An underlying goal of the exhibition is to underscore the significance and value of both visual and written arts. Boatman, graphic designer and photographer, proudly presents four of her photographs among the exclusive selection of 41 featured pieces in this year’s exhibition. Her artistic journey began at The Modern College of Design in 2015 and The Modern is proud of where her talent has taken her.

The distinguished awards are diligently assessed by a rotating panel of accomplished Michigan artists and poets. This year’s esteemed jurors include Kristine Granger, a seasoned visual arts instructor and coordinator at Bay College, Escanaba, Mich., and Sue Allen, a published author, poet, and retired English teacher, from Mackinac Island.

For those eager to explore more of Boatman’s work, her online portfolio can be found at mollyboatman.com. For a more immersive experience, art enthusiasts can witness her projects of Mackinac and Clinton County at Sugartree Mill Co. or Strength & Dignity Boutique, both conveniently located in downtown Wilmington. Alternatively, her art can be admired out-of-state at My Front Porch or Benjamins, both situated on Mackinac Island, Michigan.
