Faculty and staff participated in the Southwest Ohio AI Summit held on May 2, 2024, at Sinclair College. The event marked the beginning of a series aimed at integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into educational frameworks, fostering innovation and readiness among educators statewide.
Hosted by aiEDU in collaboration with the Ohio Educational Service Center Association (OESCA), the summit attracted over 450 attendees, including educators, administrators, and industry professionals. The summit featured multiple breakout sessions led by experts in the field, covering various aspects of AI integration in education.
Mark Werle, Photography Instructor at The Modern assisted by Admissions Specialist Emily Kallenberg, showcased cutting-edge technology at the summit, presenting a 3D scanning software integrated with AI. Mark plans to incorporate this technology into his photography class this fall.
A highlight of the summit was a panel discussion featuring students from grade school through college, providing perspectives on incorporating AI into the school curriculum. This interactive session illustrated the potential of AI to enhance learning experiences and prepare students for the evolving demands of the future workforce.
"The Modern College of Design is committed to staying at the forefront of educational innovation," said President Jessica Barry. “We are proud of Mark Werle and Emily Kallenberg for participating in the Southwest Ohio AI Summit and their dedication to advancing AI literacy in our institution."
The Southwest Ohio AI Summit is part of a broader initiative by aiEDU and OESCA to establish a statewide network of AI educators and foster a culture of innovation in Ohio's educational landscape. Through annual summits and collaborative efforts, the program seeks to equip educators with the knowledge and skills needed to prepare students for success in an AI-driven world.
