GDUSA Names Two “Students to Watch” from The Modern

[KETTERING, OH, 2/19/19] – Two second-year students, Shelby Miller and Owen Rendel, from The Modern were named to GDUSA Magazine’s influential “Students to Watch” list for 2019. GDUSA is a national graphic design publication. Other students recognized on the list attend colleges such as Pratt Institute, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

Shelby Miller is from Columbus, Ohio, and is specializing in photography, branding, and UI/UX design while at The Modern. According to the article from GDUSA, “her favorite projects are all encompassing, and allow her to design many parts of the whole: logo, website, print applications, digital applications, and photography. In her free time, she loves to develop herself as a musician, serve at her church, and spend time with her closest friends.”

Owen Rendel is from Jasper, Indiana, and according to his GDUSA interview, “is fusing his skills in graphic design with his skills in website development to create attractive, innovative designs to help businesses meet their marketing needs. He enjoys rethinking outdated cluttered designs and replacing them with designs that work not just “look cool.” Owen loves to travel and his favorite destinations include Europe and Aruba.

“Shelby and Owen are students with integrity, they are passionate about design, and consistently produce outstanding work,” shared Jessica Barry, president of The Modern.  “We’re thrilled that GDUSA’s readers across the country will get introduced to these two top students. Some of The Modern’s former “Top Students” received job offers after being included on this list; it’s an honor that is noticed.”
