Graduates' Outcomes Exceed Expectations

When The Modern College of Design offered its first bachelor's
degree-granting program in 2019, the primary objectives were to increase graduates' entry-level
employment opportunities and earning potential. The Modern recently released the career outcomes
of the first graduating class, and the results exceeded The Modern's expectations.

For graduates who began the Design Leadership Program in 2019 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree:

• 100% of graduates gained employment in the design field*.

• Graduates earned an average starting salary of $48,453, nearly $15,000** higher than the
average starting salary reported for Associate Degree earners.

Graduates worked with Whirlpool, The University of Dayton, Stratacache, Sparkbox, Life.Church,
Boomcrate, and MITRE Corp through internships, co-ops, and full-time placements.

The most popular roles for graduates were Graphic Designer, Digital Designer, and UX/UI Designer.

The highest-paying sector was UX and UI Design, with an average salary of $53,333. Through design,
technology, research, and psychology, User Experience Designers (UX) strive to make products better
for end users, and User Interface Designers (UI) focus on improving the user's visual experience. User
Interface Design is a subset of UX, and roles often include both UX and UI duties.

The fastest-growing sectors were Social Media Design and Video & Motion Design. Employers seek
designers who can create dynamic digital content for social media platforms.

"It is a perfect situation for our students and graduates; the demand for our graduates exceeds the
supply, especially in the areas of UX and UI. The industry continues to grow because of the
diversification in design and the need for design talent across all companies and organizations," stated
Rick Willits, Director of Career Services and Strategic Partnerships of The Modern. "Design is
everything right now; all you have to do is look around."
