The Modern College of Design is proud to announce that two Modern graduates, Emily Shankland and Justin Morter, will join the faculty as instructors this fall.
Emily Shankland is a 2011 graduate of The Modern College of Design and has served as a marketing team member since January of 2018 as Associate Creative Director and Creative Director. Before joining The Modern, Emily has led marketing campaigns, developed and managed social media strategies, developed brand assets and communications as the lead creative at Fusian. Before Fusian, she has provided solutions for clients that have included Bicycle Playing Cards, P&G, Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, Ultimate Indoor Football League, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. Emily was instrumental in the rebranding of the college and the launch of the Modern’s first Bachelor’s Degree Program. Emily is currently enrolled in the Design Leadership Program and will graduate in the summer of 2022. Emily will teach design courses in the Design Program.
Justin Morter is a 2008 graduate of The Modern College of Design and has served as a marketing team member for the past year as Art Director. Before joining The Modern, Justin managed a successful freelance business, providing print and digital needs, produced podcasts, and managed social media solutions for major record labels and diverse nonprofit organizations. Justin has quickly become a key asset to the team over the last year with his strong design, animation, and video production skills. Justin is enrolled in the Design Leadership Program and will begin classes this fall. Justin will teach art and design courses in the Design Program.
“Emily and Justin are incredible designers, and they have the unique ability to inspire others,” shared President Jessica Barry. “I am thrilled that their talents will positively impact Modern students.”
