The Modern College of Design Student Accepted into the American Advertising Federation’s Most Promising Multicultural Students Program

The American Advertising Federation (AAF), through its Most Promising Multicultural Students Program (MPMS), recognizes the necessity of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field of design, marketing, and advertising. Josh Marruffo, fourth-year Bachelor’s in Design Leadership student at The Modern College of Design, has been chosen for the MPMS 2022 class. This year’s judging panel included representatives from Amazon, The Coca-Cola Company, Designsensory, EY, Meta, Omnicom Media Group, SiriusXM, Smartly.io, TikTok, UM Worldwide, and Xandr, four of whom are MPMS alumni. Selections were made from submissions received from 140+ AAF college chapters.

Marruffo travels to New York City in February 2022 to network with, and receive mentorship from, top advertisers, media companies, and advertising agency professionals. The trip includes a four-day industry immersion program, including professional development, personal branding workshops, a recruitment expo, and an awards ceremony.

When asked about this opportunity, Marruffo stated, “This is an amazing accomplishment to be recognized. I’m thrilled to visit New York for the first time and join other talented students while visiting some of the world’s biggest and most influential companies”.

A.J. Busé, Instructor with The Modern College of Design who recommended Marruffo to the program, stated, “AAF’s MPMS is a premier program, and only the best students are selected to participate. Josh is an extremely talented young man and so deserving of this opportunity. It will be a life-changing experience for him.”

Founded in 1997, the AAF MPMS program seeks to “connect the advertising industry with the nation’s top multicultural college students”. AAF also states that “74% of these students attribute the success in obtaining a job after graduation to the distinction that comes from participating in the Most Promising program.”

The Modern College of Design celebrates Josh Marruffo’s achievements throughout his college career in the field of design and looks forward to the positive impacts his voice and vision will undoubtedly make on the industry.
