[KETTERING, OH, 10/17/18] – The Modern College of Design celebrated Mickalene Thomas’s vibrant and assertive special exhibit today at the Dayton Art Institute (DAI). As the primary sponsor of the Jefferson Patterson Society (JPS) Preview Event, The Modern is supporting DAI’s latest photography exhibit, Muse: Mickalene Thomas Photographs and tête-à-tête, because it aligns with several of the college’s principles.
President Jessica Barry shared, “Being bold, persistent, and passionate are central tenets of our brand. Thomas’s exhibit offers her personal inspiration for becoming an artist and makes us examine definitions of beauty. We want to acknowledge artists, like Thomas, who have the courage to show their viewpoints.”
