The Modern College of Design Hosts a Digital Exhibition and Commencement Ceremony

The Modern College of Design hosted a commencement ceremony in the Stuart and Mimi Rose Auditorium at the Dayton Art Institute on June 5, 2022. With over 300 friends and family in attendance, 44 graduates were honored at the event. The Modern awarded 14 Bachelor of Arts in Design Leadership and 30 Associate of Applied Business in Design degrees.

Mark Fogel, learning and development leader at Mile Two, addressed the graduates and illustrated how their leadership and creativity would help solve challenging global issues. Valedictorians shared the obstacles the Class of 2022 has overcome and the critical lessons they learned throughout their journey at The Modern.

Nineteen students graduated with honors. Honors graduates earned a 3.75 or higher cumulative grade point average while completing the Design or Design Leadership programs.

Guests were impressed by the graduates’ professionalism and the exceptional quality of their work.

Graduates will now continue their education at The Modern by enrolling in the Design Leadership Program or entering the design industry. Each graduate has completed internships or cooperative learning experiences, and over two-thirds have accepted positions in the design industry that extend past graduation.

“During one of the most challenging times in our nation’s history, the Modern’s Class of 2022 overcame tremendous adversity and adapted to an entirely new way of being Modern students,” states President Jessica Barry. “Demand for skills in digital design, motion, video, and content creation has increased steadily, and these graduates will meet the growing demand.”
