Modern President Listed as DBJ's Power 50 Women

The Dayton Business Journal's editorial board recognized President Jessica Barry as one of the honorees for the 2020 Power 50 list of the most influential women in the region who are driving business, government, economic development, and change. Barry has been selected for three consecutive years for this prestigious list.

President Barry became a student at The Modern College of Design in 1995 after graduating from Versailles High School. After graduating from The Modern, she worked as a graphic designer and art director for design firms in the Dayton and Cincinnati markets. Barry joined The Modern professionally in 2004, working in the admissions and marketing departments. Barry's career quickly excelled at The Modern after she was named admissions director, creative director, and then president in 2007.

In 2013, Barry purchased the college's assets from Tim and Linda Potter and became the sole owner. Since 2013, Barry has led $7M in expansion and renovations to the campus to accommodate growing enrollment, the college's rebranding, and the development of The Modern's first Bachelor's Degree program. The college has recently introduced online degree programs, increased scholarship opportunities for students, and is under contract with the City of Kettering to purchase 3+ acres for the development of exclusive student housing.

"I am honored to be recognized amongst such talented and ambitious women in our community," shared President Barry. "The work of our talented students, alumni, faculty, and staff fuel my passion for boldly serving The Modern and our community."
