The Modern College of Design Awards First Bachelor’s Degrees

The Modern College of Design awarded its first Bachelor’s Degrees at a commencement ceremony held at the Dayton Masonic Center on June 6, 2021. With over 400 friends and family in attendance, seventy-one graduates were honored at the event. The Modern awarded 11 Bachelor of Arts in Design Leadership and 60 Associate of Applied Business in Design degrees. The Modern recognized nine valedictorians, three salutatorians, and thirty-two honors graduates. The Modern also presented Angelica Weimer with an inaugural Excellence in Leadership award.

The Modern also hosted a series of events leading up to the commencement ceremony. Over 100 professionals and alumni visited the Kettering campus to attend The Modern’s first digital exhibition of graduates’ portfolios-Reveal36. Many guests were astounded by the quality of the graduates’ work and the college’s focus on digital design.

Graduates will now continue their education at The Modern by enrolling in the Design Leadership Program or enter the design industry. 100% of the graduates have completed at least one internship or co-op, and over 50% have jobs that extend past graduation.

"During one of the most challenging times in our nation’s history, the Modern’s Class of 2021 overcame tremendous adversity and adapted to an entirely new way of being a Modern student,” states President Jessica Barry. “Demand for skills in digital design, motion, video, and social media content creation has increased steadily, and these graduates will meet the growing needs."
